ARTIST BIO

Susan Ellbourne's work draws on her career background in the news media and highlights the socio-political issues of the 21st century.

Each piece presents a different aspect of the important agendas and issues current in today's world, which are deliberately suppressed from public knowledge. Through her contemporary works, Susan seeks to expand awareness of these highly relevant, but mostly hidden issues, in an attempt to bring them to the attention of the viewer and provoke thought and discussion on the universal problems that beseige this generation, but are largely unacknowledged and unaddressed by society.

The artist sees herself as both an "observer and critic" who holds a mirror to modern, urban life and her works are awash in stark themes and vibrant colours. She presents the subject matter in a cryptic way, that seeks to both intrigue and inform and prefers to work with different textures and bold colors, to create a tapestry of interwoven text, paint and materials designed to educate and inspire.

Susan is an Australian artist who lives in South Australia and has exhibited at the GAFF GALLERY and NABO Art Exhibition.
